Polar Power

Welcome to Polar Power, a place where students can interact and exchange thoughts, reflections, research, digital stories, podcasts, and poetry.

The Alaska International Polar Year Education team wants to hear your thoughts and ideas related to the following themes:

  • Change: Climate, development, culture. Tell us how you've explored the concept of change.
  • Connections: The polar regions are influenced by weather, ocean currents, telecommunications, and politics. How does what happens in the polar regions resonate across the planet?
  • Observations: Have you compared old photographs of polar regions with more recent ones? What difference did you see? What might explain those differences?
  • People: Have you interviewed elders in your community to find out what the environment was like when they were your age?
  • Research: Contact one of the IPY Alaska Researchers and conduct an interview to be posted on the Polar Power.
Alaska State Writing Consortium
